In the second quarter, TSMC held a 62.3% share of the global foundry market, while Samsung had 11.5%, according to market intelligence platform Trend Force. Notably, TSMC captured a 92% market share in advanced process technologies such as 3nm and 5nm. The report claims that if the foundry alliance between Intel and Samsung is established, it would mean extensive collaboration in areas including process technology exchange, production facility sharing, and research and development.
