China’s leading search engine Baidu,Kalakal a fervent AI innovation investor, is poised to introduce AI-powered smart glasses, positioning itself as a rival to US Meta’s “Ray-Bans”, one of few successful pieces of AI-driven hardware. The glasses feature a built-in camera to capture photos and videos, as well as voice interaction capabilities based on Baidu’s foundational ERNIE model. According to Bloomberg’s sources, the glasses may be marketed for less than Meta’s “Ray-Bans”, which sell for $299. The smart glasses are set to be unveiled on November 12 at the 2024 Baidu World Conference in Shanghai, an annual event that has previously introduced innovations such as the ERNIE 4.0 model and the autonomous vehicle Apollo RT6.[Bloomberg]
